  1. PURPOSE OF POSITION 
      Manages a production team to ensure that labor, materials, and machinery are used efficiently in meeting production and shipping schedules.
 GENERAL FUNCTIONS/SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
     Responsible for manufacturing personnel training, performance and work assignment.  Investigates and    reacts to process and quality problems and maintains awareness of current quality concerns within the          plant.  Ensures that all areas controlled by the manufacturing department are maintained in a clean,    organized and safe condition.  Assigns work responsibilities to technicians, tracks performance, applies         corrective measures when needed and reports results.
 Supervisory Responsibilities
      Ensures that personnel meet requirements for performance and attendance.  Ensures employee adherence to company policies and process instructions.  Helps technicians overcome performance   issues.  Completes disciplinary action on employees as required.
      Coordinates training and certification for technicians on the assigned shift to ensure a flexible work force. Ensures timely certification of new technicians, and coordinates on-going training and development of     assigned technicians.  Maintains training plans and records for assigned technicians.
 Assigns tasks (project tasks, machine assignment) to technicians according to their job descriptions and       experience level.
Responsible for performance reviews of technicians and disciplinary actions of the technicians.  Maintains     a well informed, motivated, and stable work force through company goals and policies.
Schedules technician vacations to limit production interference.
Completes required payroll functions in a timely fashion.
Quality Responsibilities
      Investigates hold tags issued by personnel on assigned shift.  Determines the cause(s) for defects and     takes appropriate corrective action.  Corrective measures include: issuing maintenance work requests,   providing additional training to technicians, issuing improved process documentation, disciplining       employee(s), notifying other supervisors of problems created by or possible by their shift personnel.
 Inspects production areas for cleanliness and safety.  Ensures that cleaning and maintenance           checksheets and work are completed on schedule.

Leads and actively supports Kaizen and model shop activities on assigned shift.
 Responsible for long term quality goals for an assigned manufacturing area.  Tracks the quality trend in         the area and takes action to improve the trend such as issuing engineering requests, issuing maintenance     work request, planning and completing training of area personnel, writing improved process instructions       and standards with the help of engineering departments, purchasing required supplies.
 Works with Process and Plant Engineering department members to improve quality.
 Creates and maintains training checklists for assigned manufacturing area.  Updates these checklists to        reflect newly identified training deficiencies or changes to the process.
 Plan and implement work environment improvements which improve product quality and make jobs easier    and safer for technicians.
Productivity/Delivery/Cost Responsibilities
 Responsible for meeting goals for production output.
  Determines labor and machinery to be used on assigned shift to accomplish planned production.  Ensures   that production is maintained on the planned schedule to allow on-time delivery to the customer.  Takes          proactive measures to avoid production bottlenecks, adjust personnel work area assignments to assist in current bottlenecked areas.
 Communicates with Production Control Department members and manufacturing technicians regarding      current process conditions and shop priorities.
Responsible for long term productivity goals for assigned manufacturing area. 

Works with Plant and Process Engineering personnel to improve process productivity.
Identifies means to improve product flow.
 Reporting Responsibilities
 Reports shift activities daily,(bi-)weekly, and monthly to Senior Supervisor, and Management.  Analyzes      trends in output, quality, manpower utilization, operating cost, model shop, employee morale, etc.         Identifies reasons for shortfalls and area for improvement.
Other Responsibilities
 Serves as liaison between all groups and manufacturing.
Performs additional task as required by Senior Supervisor.
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
            BS Degree
            1-5 years of Supervisory experience
            Computer aptitude, especially MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access
     
This is a night shift position, MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR OFF SHIFTS
